Islanders go to Holland, 1985

A group of Islanders went on a coach trip to the Netherlands to visit the docks in Amsterdam and the shipyard at Harlingen on the North Sea coast. Much of Amsterdam docks had closed and was awaiting redevelopment but a number of the dock buildings had been taken over by squatters who were living there as a community rather like the 'Occupy' movement in Britain. On the way from Harlingen to Amsterdam the traffic was held up on the motorway by a group of demonstrating farmers. As the coach was at the front of the queue I was able to get off and photograph the demonstration
