The Asda superstore opened in 1983 and is situated in the middle of the Isle of Dogs, to the north of the Mudchute. I photographed here, both in the shopping aisles and behind the scenes, because it represented something of what the future held for the Island. Its advent had an immediate impact on the existing shops, such as those in Castalia Square, which I also photographed (here)
