Disposing of coat hangers in the “Goods Inward” office. On the left, Islander Rose Wood, who worked in this warehouse office and used to book goods in. She started at 7 am and finished at 2, a “lonely job”. The work stopped when the men in the warehouse were told they would have to do their own paperwork. Rose was offered another job, as price-checker on the shop floor, she then went to work for the Association of Island Communities, in a post funded by the LDDC, in an employment agency. There was not a lot of work because in 1985 there was not a lot of work about for Islanders. She then worked for a firm of architects in Cannon Workshops, until after 8 years they returned to their office in Richmond. With Rose is her colleague ”Lorna”
